Ocean City Ocean Swim
This South Jersey classic has become less intense since its move from evening to morning, which reduced the number of swimmers from peaks above 400 to around 200.

- Registration
- Register in front of the Ocean City Beach Patrol (OCBP) station at 34th Street Beach. Registration opens at 8:00 AM and closes at 9:30 AM. Online pre-registration with a discount is available until 10 PM Thursday. Mail-in pre-registration with a (larger) discount is available if postmarked by the previous Saturday.
- Parking
- Find free, on-street parking within a few blocks of registration.
- Restrooms
- There are public bathrooms at registration.
- Bags
- Leave bag on 34th Street beach near the finish chute.
- Wetsuits
- Wetsuits are permitted only when the water is sufficiently cold according to the race directors, deciding on race day.
- Start
- The swim starts at either 42nd Street beach or 26th Street beach, depending on prevailing current. Walk to the start along beach or grab a ride on an OCBP truck. (Wait for a ride on the beach near registration.) Be ready to go at the start; there are no bag wagons for gear. Running start from beach into surf.
- Course
- The point-to-point course parallels the shoreline back to 34th Street beach. Several bright-colored buoys mark the course; it is easy to follow, surf permitting.
- Finish
- Running finish from surf onto beach and into timing chute. Second-wave swimmers, remember to subtract ten minutes from the clock time.
- Timing
- Paper name-number tag (put inside cap), body marking; time clock.
