Barnegat Light Ocean Mile Swim
Barnegat Light beach patrol runs a mile swim on the quiet north end of Long Beach Island. This is the only race offered on LBI.

- Jul 31, Saturday, 6:30 PM; 1 mi; Atlantic Ocean; 🌎 Barnegat Light, NJ (16th St at ocean end).

- Registration
- Register at the ocean end of 16th Street. Registration opens at 2:00 PM and closes at 6:00 PM. Online registration is available until noon on Friday.
- Parking
- Find free street parking. Be careful to avoid blocking driveways.
- Restrooms
- There will be a single portable toilet at registration. There are public restrooms at Barnegat Lighthouse State Park on the northwest tip of LBI, about a mile north of 16th Street.
- Bags
- Leave bags on beach at 16th Street.
- Wetsuits
- Permitted, no penalty.
- Start
- Start at 30th Street beach or 16th Street beach, depending on the direction of the current. If the swim starts at 30th Street beach, walk south a mile from registration at 16th Street beach or grab a ride on provided beach truck. Given enough swimmers, there will be two heats determined by estimated times for completion. Running start from beach into surf.
- Course
- The course is point-to-point between 16th Street and 30th Street; the direction will follow the current. It is marked with buoys.
- Finish
- Finish at 16th Street beach or 30th Street beach, depending on the direction of the current. Running finish from surf onto beach and into timing chute. If the swim finishes at 30th Street beach, walk back north a mile to 16th Street beach.

- Timing chip, body marking, time clock.

- T-shirt. Hot dogs, Philadelphia soft pretzels, bottled water.
