Avon by the Sea

Avon by the Sea has a mile swim with a triangular course in the surf and easy one-stop logistics. There is also a splash-n-dash race for kids going out about 150 yards into the surf and then returning to the beach. (Avon also hosts a run-swim-run race the following Sunday.)

Register behind the Avon Pavilion on the boardwalk just south of Norwood Avenue, at the north end of town. Registration opens at 7:00 AM and closes at 7:45 AM.
Easy and free street parking nearby.
There are public restrooms in the Avon Pavilion and beach showers behind the start/finish.

Start on Norwood Avenue beach. Running start from beach into surf.
The out-and-back course sketches a triangle with a single vertex at Norwood Avenue beach and the opposite base perpendicular to the beach about a half mile south. It is marked by three yellow or orange buoys. Race-day conditions determine the direction taken of around the triangle. The course is easy to follow.

Popsicle stick, no body marking. A race official at the finish line gives you an index card with your overall place number. Take this to the tables on boardwalk to record your place with your name.
